Hyundai Creta is the best-selling SUV in the segment and Upcoming Mahindra XUV300’s higher variants would compete with the Creta
Mahindra XUV 300 would be launched in the Indian market soon. It is the newest SUV from the Indian manufacturer and is highly awaited in the market. Even though the Hyundai Creta, which is the best-selling SUV in the segment belongs to a segment above, Mahindra plans to position the XUV 300 as a premium product which will ensure that the higher variants of the Mahindra XUV 300 are in the same price segment of the Hyundai Creta.
Here is how the Mahindra XUV 300 would compare with the Hyundai Creta when it is launched in the Indian market.
Mahindra XUV 300 vs Hyundai Creta exteriors
The Mahindra XUV 300 has quite a few design similarities to the Mahindra XUV 500. The front of the Mahindra XUV 300 is very similar to the new-age premium SUVs of Mahindra including the XUV 500 and the Alturas G4.
It gets chrome-dipped grille with a set of large headlamps on either side. The headlamps get LED DRLs, which are uniquely shaped and give an identity to the Mahindra XUV 300. Other features on the exterior include 17-inch diamond cut wheels, split tail lamps, faux skid plates on the bumpers, roof rails and body cladding all around.
The Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, gets a very sophisticated body design that is not very loud. The Creta gets a big trapezoidal grille at the front and a thick chrome boundary. There are big projector headlamps on the either side but there are no DRLs in the Creta. The car also gets skid plates at the front and rear.
Even though Hyundai Creta has a very calm design, it looks very modern. The 17-inch machined alloys of the Hyundai Creta gives it a very aggressive stance. The Mahindra XUV 300 looks much more intimidating on the road when compared to the Creta but the Creta is larger in size.

Both Mahindra XUV 300 and the Hyundai Creta a plush cabin. Both get leather seats and are 5-seater. However, Creta belongs to a segment above and offers a bigger cabin space. The bigger space translates into a much more comfortable seats. The Hyundai offers a bigger boot space when compared to the Mahindra XUV 300.

Hyundai has always been generous when it comes to features. The facelifted version of the Hyundai Creta is offered with a range of features including the segment-first wireless charger. Other features include a sunroof, perforated leather seats, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Hyundai Creta gets an all-black dashboard with chrome highlights all over. It also gets automatic climate control, cruise control among others. It gets a 6 airbag system.
The Mahindra is also very generous when it comes to features and the Mahindra XUV 300 gets a long list of features including a sunroof, leather seats, cruise control, coloured driver information display among others. There are quite a few other features which will be seen in the segment for the first time. The features include a dual-zone climate control system, 7 airbags, longest wheelbase, which translates into bigger cabin space among others.

The Hyundai Creta is offered with a wide range of engine and transmission options. There is a 1.6-litre petrol engine, a 1.4-litre diesel engine and a 1.6-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces a maximum of 121 Bhp and 151 Nm. It gets a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The diesel 1.4-litre engine produces a maximum of 88.7 Bhp and 219.7 Nm. It also gets a 6-speed manual transmission. Then there is the 1.6-litre diesel engine that generates a maximum of 126 Bhp and 260 Nm. It also gets a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Mahindra XUV 300 would get the most torque-rich engine in the segment as announced by the Indian brand. However, Mahindra has not released the actual power figures of the car. It is likely to be powered by an all-new G80 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine from the Marazzo. Mahindra XUV 300 is expected to match the power of the Creta but nothing can be said for sure at the moment.
What does XUV 300 offer more than the Hyundai Creta
Even though the Mahindra XUV 300 belongs from a segment below, it offers dual-zone climate control system, big LED DRLs, LED projector lamps, disc brakes on all four wheels and a 7-airbag system. All these features are not present in the Hyundai Creta.
