MS Dhoni fan-dodge moment: Twitter goes berserk as Thala plays hide and seek with intruder on pitch
What can MS Dhoni not do? Finish innings for the team, slam those last-ball sixes, stun batsmen with lightning-quick stumpings, and even play hide-and-seek with fans. It was a crazy incident on the pitch as a fan breached security after India had put 250 runs on the board against Australia during the second ODI at Nagpur. While it wasn't the first such instance that a fan came running to meet MSD on the pitch, the former Indian skipper did something that left his entire fanbase in awe.
While Virat Kohli did the job with the bat with his 40th ODI ton, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Vijay Shankar did the rest of the work in the death overs to help India take 2-0 win in the 5-match series. While it was a forgettable evening for Dhoni, who couldn't do much with the bat as he departed for a golden duck for the first time in 9 years, made sure he did something that his fans wouldn't want to forget for a long time.
As the Indian team came out to begin their defense of the 250-run total that the batsmen had posted at the VCA stadium, a fan intruded and ran towards Dhoni. The Ranchi-born wicket-keeper batsman saw the fan rushing towards him and started to dodge him by running away from him. While the rest of the teammates stood still witnessing the epic catch-up contest, Dhoni was having fun giving his fan a hard time.
After successfully deceiving the fan from reaching him, Dhoni stopped to let the guy have his moment and greet the hero he admires so much. The whole incident once again proved the sort of love fans have for him. Dhoni's fans, meanwhile, went berserk on social media cherishing the epic moment they witnessed.
The fan managed to touch Dhoni's feet and also get a hug for himself before he was escorted out by the security personnel of Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium.
Later in the match, Dhoni also gave a fine example of his cricketing brilliance as the big call of lining up the bowlers in the death overs came. While Kohli was thinking of giving Shankar the 46th over, it was following a discussion with Rohit Sharma and Dhoni that the decision was changed.
