Kuldeep Yadav etched his name in an elite list as he took a hat-trick and turned the second ODI against Australia India’s way in the 33rd over at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The mystery spinner was lucky when Matthew Wade dragged one on to his stumps. That was in the second ball of the 33rd over.

Next ball, Ashton Agar went, trapped in front of the wicket. Agar thought about a review but non-striker Marcus Stoinis decided against it. And then Pat Cummins fell, caught at the wicket.

The player signed by Kolkata Knight Riders had ensured that India were firmly on course for their eighth successive ODI win. This was Yadav’s maiden ODI hat-trick. He is the third Indian after Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev too took a hat-trick for India. This is the second ODI hat-trick at Eden Gardens after Kapil Dev’s effort against Sri Lanka in 1991.

In the 2001 Test against Australia here, Harbhajan Singh too had taken a hat-trick.
