Getting six pack abs is hard enough in itself with all the crazy core workout that one has to do. But diet also plays a major role when it comes to striving towards those washboard abs. There is a lot of food that you have to give up and amid the confusion of what to eat and what not to eat, we end up eating something that might not be aligned with the diet… However, we have a solution to all your snacking woes! Aashu Kumar Jaivir, personal trainer at Olympia Gym gives you a list of food items that you can consume in-between your meals as a snack to take care of those hunger pangs.
1. Nuts
Nuts such as almonds, cashew, walnuts and peanuts provide the body with healthy unsaturated fats. These are the best examples of quick bites that make you feel full. However, be careful to not consume more than ¼ cup of nuts in one go.
2. Yogurt
Yogurts are a great source of calcium in addition to the good bacteria (probiotics) that they provide to the body. These probiotics help in the breakdown of fat. Make sure that the yogurt that you consume is natural or Greek yogurt, as any other form is full of sugar and is a big no-no when working out for six-pack abs.
3. Berries
Berries such as strawberries, blueberries and blackberries are full of antioxidants and fibre. They provide the body with natural sugars and the antioxidants improve the blood flow in the body. This enhances the results of your workout.
4. Green Tea
Green tea is full of antioxidants, which have many positive effects on the body. Fat burning properties and increasing the metabolism are the ones that help majorly in building a six-pack. A big cup of green tea with some nuts is the best combination of a guilt-free snack.
5. Egg Whites
These are one of the food items that fit in the very low-calorie food group. However, they are a very good source of lean protein, which is a requirement of the body while striving for those dream abs.
6. Sweet Potato
Boiled sweet potatoes make for a great snack. These, unlike potatoes, do not promote fat storage in the body by increasing the insulin levels. They also help maintain the right blood glucose level in the body.
7. Coconut Oil
It is advised to consume coconut oil directly as it boosts the fat burning process in the body to a great level and it also increases your HDL (high-density lipoprotein). These lipoproteins play a major role in evenly distributing the fat in the body.
8. Makhana ( Lotus Seeds)
This is a common element in the Indian kitchen. 100 gms of lotus seeds only have 0.1 gram of fat, which is a big thing when on a diet for six-pack abs. They make for a great snack as a small amount only makes you feel full. These also maintain the sugar level in the body and enhances weight loss.
