First Avengers 4 synopsis revealed, teases time travel, alternate reality and death

The first synopsis of Avengers 4 has been revealed, and it teases an epic conclusion with time travel, alternate realities and certain death. Read here.

With Avengers: Infinity War still going strong at the box office, it’s too early to expect any substantial information about the future. But on Tuesday, the first synopsis of Avengers 4 was released by Licence Global magazine, and it offers several hints for fans to dissect.

Several comic book sites such as Comicbook.com, Comic Book Resources and Hype Beast report that the as yet untitled fourth Avengers film -- the magazine lists it as Avengers: Untitled -- will feature an epic journey which will serve as a conclusion to 22 films worth of story.

Here’s the synopsis: “A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”

Three things have caught the attention of fans: The turning point, the fragility of their reality and the sacrifices that must be made. This suggests that earlier theories might be proven true and that the Avengers -- at least, those who survived the events of Infinity War -- will utilise the Time Stone and the Reality Stone to beat Thanos, and some of them will die for real this time.

License Global was also the first publication to reveal the synopsis for Avengers: Infinity War.

At the end of Infinity War, the villainous Thanos snapped his fingers and eviscerated half the universe’s population. Set photos of the fourth Avengers film suggest that the remaining heroes will go back in time to the Battle of New York: The ‘turning point’ mentioned in the synopsis.

And Doctor Strange’s revelation that there is only one conclusion out of 14 billion possibilities to the story in which the Avengers win, the synopsis also reaffirms the involvement of the Reality Stone.

Infinity War is within touching distance of the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office -- only three films (Titanic, Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens) in history have achieved this milestone. The film also broke the record for the biggest Hollywood release in India, with a gross of over Rs 250 crore.

Avengers 4 will reunite original stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth to challenge Thanos once and for all. Disney chief Bob Iger recently said that the film will be a ‘significant conclusion’ to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will also serve as a passing on of the baton to a younger set of heroes for the future.
