Indian Idol 11 has got the entire nation talking. The contestants and their life stories have moved many. Impressed with the contestants, last week, Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to praise the show and last night, it was business tycoon Anand Mahindra.
Anand Mahindra shared a video clip of Indian Idol 11 on the story of Sunny, who hails from Bathinda. Sunny works as a shoeshiner and his mother sells balloons to earn a living. They had to go through a lot of hardship after his father passed away.
Anand Mahindra shared Sunny's audition video on Twitter and wrote, "Diwali is the perfect day to learn about people who Rise. A friend sent me this saying he was in tears watching it. Find the whole clip on YouTube & I challenge you to remain dry-eyed. TV & social media have done us a great service: Discovering talent in the humblest locations. (sic)"
Vishal Dadlani was elated with Anand Mahindra's tweet. Dadlani thanked the businessman and also invited him to be a guest on Indian Idol 11. He wrote, "So glad you noticed Sunny, @anandmahindra Sir. Do watch the upcoming episodes. All our singers on #IndianIdol11 have the potential to inspire kids in every corner and every economic level in India. We'd be honoured if you visit our set & chat with the kids, whenever you like! (sic)"
Sunny sang Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Afreen Afreen. The Bathinda boy left the judges mighty surprised with his singing and he also got a standing ovation from them. Anu Malik said that he was amazed to hear him sing and felt as if Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan himself was performing on the Indian Idol stage. As Neha Kakkar praised Sunny, he broke into tears while speaking about his mother. He said, "Mujhe bilkul achcha nahi lagta ki meri mummy ghar-ghar mein chawal maangti hai."
Vishal Dadlani was all praise for Sunny's singing. He said, "Mera bheja fat gaya apko sun ke. I have never heard anyone singing Nusrat sahab like that. It's mind-blowing. Aapne gaane ka ratta bahut achcha maara hai."
Vishal also said that he was doubtful if Sunny would be able to sing other songs so well. Neha Kakkar asked him to sing another song. He sang Haal-e-Dil. Vishal was so impressed that he gave him the Golden Mike. The Golden Mike ensured Sunny a direct entry to the theatre round.
