Priyanka Chopra and 10 other celebs who shocked us at Met Gala before and might do it again
The biggest night in fashion is right around the corner and everyone is excited to see what their favourite celebs will turn up in. The 70th Annual Costume Institute Gala (more popularly known as the Met Gala) will host the biggest movie actors, pop stars, social media sensations and sports personalities on Monday in New York and we know the stars are gearing up for it.
Last year, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone represented India at the ball in stunning outfits that had everyone’s attention. This year, Priyanka is again expected to make an appearance but will her outfit be just as awesome and daring as the enormous trench coat with an 10-foot train from last year?
This year’s the Met Gala has a rather controversial, religious theme. Celebs are supposed to dress in accordance to Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. In the previous years, while many have played it safe, other stars like Rihanna and Solange Knowles went really crazy with the theme. Here is a list of 10 celebrities who have shocked us with their previous appearances and we are sure will do it again this time.
Madonna
Queen of Pop, Madonna never shies away from getting risky even at 59 years old. Last year, she wore a very strappy dark costume that seemed to have walked straight out of an early 19th century Gothic novel.
Rihanna
When not imitating a cheese omelette, Rihanna loves to dress like a coral reef at the Met Gala.
Solange Knowles
Beyonce’s little sister and a singer herself, Solange has taken inspiration from a paper fan, a sleeping bag or a frilled-neck lizard for her Met Gala outfits over the years.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga loved to be a silvery rockstar with no pants and a Gothic samurai in her previous few outings at the gala.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry is still the reigning queen of the most shocking Met Gala outfits. From stepping straight out of a comic book, to looking like a vengeful bride, to emulating a futuristic Disney villain, Katy has done it all.
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj has mostly chosen dark, extremely tight outfits that make you want to take a deep breath just looking at her.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Sex And The City alum Sarah Jessica Parker is all about crazy headgears, even if it makes her look like Samurai Jack villain, Aku.
Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne and Bella Hadid
When not smoking and clicking selfies in bathrooms, these supermodels take the risque approach to the Met Gala. See through gowns, cat-suits or a silver head, they have done it all to stand out of the crowd.
