Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was conferred with Padma Bhushan Award on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi by President of India Ram Nath Kovind. Coincidentally, he received the honour on the same day when he led India to on the same day when he guided India to its second ICC World Cup triumph exactly seven years ago.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his wife Sakshi Dhoni were seen posing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Cueist Pankaj Advani was also honoured with Padma Bhushan Award by President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. MS Dhoni was seen giving the eight-time world champion a hug at the ceremony.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was conferred with the honourary title of Lieutenant Colonel in Indian Army in 2011, was wearing his army uniform at the ceremony. He was granted the honour by the former President of India Pratibha Patil at a ceremony in New Delhi.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is the most successful Indian captain till date, is the only skipper to win all the ICC trophies- ICC Cricket World Cup, World Twenty20 and the Champions Trophy.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2014. Later in 2017, he relinquished his captaincy in ODI cricket. He has won numerous accolades in his career. He was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2007.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni also holds the distinction of being the first player to win the ICC ODI Player of the Year award twice back in 2008 and 2009.
