As I shared before, it’s a known fact that over 50% of men suffer from excess chest fat (man boobs a.k.a psuedogynecomastia).
Luckily most men have the power to change this, unless they have true gynecomastia or another disorder. If you’re not sure which you have, visit a physican or check out my
Gentleman’s Guide To Gynecomastia.
In this day and age it’s easy for men to be lacking in testosterone and have higher estrogen levels.
Hormonal imbalances in men are one of the biggest contributors to feminine chests.
In fact there has been a huge generational decline in testosterone according to a study done by the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism.
The study doesn’t have many factors to blame but they noticed the rise in obesity and a decrease in cigarette smoking has contributed to the decrease in testosterone.
Others theorize that chemicals in household products, hormones in food, estrogen in plastics and so forth have a part in all this.
Here’s 9 things you should probably stay away from if you want to get rid of moobs fast:
1. Alcohol
Alcohol is a testosterone killer. Could Kavanaugh’s emotional moment on national television have been due to too much beer? Possibly.
Alcohol isn’t just bad for your overall health, it’s in estrogen’s “friend-zone”. Alcohol makes it harder for your liver to rid of estrogen you don’t need. It’s the liver’s job to metabolize hormones and if you have a less than functional liver, it will start changing your androgens (testosterone) into estrogen. One more thing. The plants involved in making alcoholic drinks and hops in beer all contain estrogen.
2. Steroids
Let’s face it. Steroids can help you get fuckin’ huge and strong. You can become Mr. Olympia. You can become a WWE champ, action star, Disney star, oh & did I mention huge?
Unfortunately there are some side effects when injecting a crazy amount of steroids into your body.
One of those symptoms are developing man breasts or the dreaded, puffy nipples.
Why does this happen? All that extra testosterone in your body will get converted to estrogen. Yikes.
Fun fact: Did you know the majority of those who get gynecomastia removal surgery are steroid or ex-steroid users?
3. Being a Fatty
The more fat you gain, the more fat can get stored on top of your pecs, which will eventually look like breasts.
Also when you start having a higher fat to muscle ratio, your body starts producing more estrogen and less testosterone which means a more feminine looking chest.
4. Not getting nutrients and doing crazy diets
Some guys go on these diets to get super lean but deprive themselves of nutrients that your body needs. This may cause you to start developing man boobs.
And if you get skinny while avoiding nutrients, you may not develop man boobs until you start eating again & getting your nutrients back. This phenomenon is called “refeeding gynecomastia”.
Nobody knows why it happens but in the Journal of the American Medical Association, it was noted in 1945 that after WW2 prison camps were liberated, the male prisoners started to grow breasts after getting back to a normal diet.
5. Taking Some Medications
I’ve mentioned this in my main guide on gynecomastia but quite a few medications can actually cause gynecomastia. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, over 25% of all gynecomastia is due to some medications.
This is because a lot of them contain things that mimic estrogen or have androgens that can potentially become estrogen.
These medications include antidepressants, drugs for blood pressure, antibiotics and more.
