10. Researchers told that they have retraced the footprints from where Swastika moved from India after dividing the world into nine quadrants and have been able to graphically prove their claim through ancient seals, inscriptions, imprints etc.
A brief History of Swastika symbol and its importance is as follows:
- In Asia first Swastika symbol appears around 3000 BCE in the Indus Valley Civilization.
- It was adopted by the Nazi Party, Nazi Germany prior to World War I and II.
- Do you know that Swastika was a symbol of the revolving sun, infinity, or continuing creation in the Zoroastrian religion of Persia.
- During Mauryan Empire Swastika importance rose to Buddhism and in Hinduism, during Gupta Empire with the decline of Buddhism.
- Interesting is that in Thailand “Sawaddi” word means “hello” which is used to greet people and is derived from the Sanskrit word ”Swasti” which means a combination of the words i.e prosperity, luck, security, glory and good.
- In Jainism, Swastika is a symbol of seventh Tirthankara and is more prominent.
- In Chinese, Japanese and Korean the Swastika is also a homonym of the number 10,000 and is commonly used to represent the whole creation and it is also used as an alternative symbol of sun.
- Swastika is used as the hooked version of Christian Cross in Christianity which is a symbol of Christ’s victory over death.
- In West Africa Swastika symbol is found on Ashanti gold weights and among adinkra symbols.
- Interesting is that the Finnish Air force used the Swastika as an emblem, introduced in 1918 etc.
