A 35-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly shooting at a 23-year-old auto-rickshaw driver after a fight over incorrect parking in Bhawani Enclave, near Sector 9, on Wednesday morning.
According to the police, the woman, identified only by her first name Sapna, allegedly had an argument with autorickshaw driver, Sunil Kataria, who had parked his autorickshaw in a narrow lane of the area to answer a phone call.
Both the accused and the complainant live in the same neighbourhood, police said, adding that they have filed an FIR.
On Wednesday, the two fought when Sapna, who was coming from her house on a scooter, told the auto driver to move his vehicle so that there is space for others to pass by. Soon their argument snowballed, said a police investigator requesting anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
“The fight ended after residents and neighbours intervened. Sapna left, but soon she returned with a country-made pistol. She shot at Sunil, but he dodged the bullet, showed a medical examination of the victim, which was conducted at the Civil Hospital on Wednesday evening,” the investigator said.
The police said the gun belonged to another man who lives in the same locality and works with the woman in a tailoring company in Begampur Khatola near Hero Honda Chowk. They both belong to the same village in Bulandshahr.
A case has been registered against the woman under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 307 (attempt to murder) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25, 54 and 59 of The Arms Act, at the Sector 9-A police station.
