Vice Presidential election: Venkaiah Naidu, Gopalkrishna Gandhi to file nomination today
New Delhi: Veteran BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu, who was on July 17 named as the NDA vice presidential candidate, will file his nomination papers on Tuesday.
Naidu will now take on opposition vice-presidential candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi in the August 5 election.
Not long after his name was declared by the BJP yesterday, Naidu surrendered as Union Minister in the Narendra Modi-drove NDA government, as per PTI.
He was responsible for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Housing and Urban Affairs.
Amid a meeting yesterday, the BJP Parliamentary board picked him as the NDA hopeful against Opposition-sponsored Gopalkrishna Gandhi.

Amid the BJP Parliamentary board meet, his name was proposed by Union Minister JP Nadda.
After the meeting, BJP president Amit Shah authoritatively declared the choice.
He included, "He has been related with the BJP since youth and has been out in the open life for more than 25 years and has a place with a rancher's family."
"All the NDA partners have respected his hopeful. He is one of the tallest and a standout amongst the most experienced pioneers crosswise over partisan loyalties. He will record his designation tomorrow," Shah additionally said.
Declaring his name, Shah said that he will document his designation on Tuesday.
