Srinagar crowd strips Senior Police Officer Naked, stones him to death outside Jamia Masjid
Srinagar: In a shocking incident, a crowd in Srinagar stoned a senior cop to death on Thursday night, official said on Friday.
The body of Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammed Ayoub Pandit was recuperated on Friday morning from outside the Jamia Masjid in the Nowhatta zone of the old city where he was assaulted.
At the point when hundreds were occupied in supplications amid the holiest night of the Muslim schedule called the `Shab-e-Qadr` at the biggest city mosque, a gathering of lowlifes assaulted Pandit at his post.
DGP SP Vaid named the executing as dismal and grievous.
"The official was murdered by the crowd while he was playing out his obligations. It's an exceptionally miserable and shocking occurrence," the DGP said.
News office PTI had before cited sources as saying that Pandit was seen moving around by individuals close Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta zone at 0030 hours.
He was purportedly clicking pictures of individuals while they were leaving the mosque.
They said individuals attempted to get Pandit who purportedly discharged a few shots from his gun, harming three people.
The irate crowd then caught hold of him and stripped him exposed before stoning him to death, the sources said.
His body was taken to police control space for distinguishing proof and other lawful techniques.
According to ANI, the perished DSP was supposedly making a video of the nearby stone pelting when he was assaulted by the crowd.
News office IANS cited educated sources as saying: "The officer was on searching obligation at the Jamia Masjid. He was doing his obligations as regular when the frauds assaulted him."
"He attempted to free himself and even let go in self-protection, harming three. Yet, the crowd figured out how to lynch him," the sources said.
The crowd later went out of control focusing on exhaust security pickets raised in the range.

A wreath laying service will be held for the killed officer at 11 am today.
Pandit had a place with Khanyar range which is adjoining Nowhatta where he was slaughtered.
