Soumya murder case: Markandey Katju was an 'incompetent' judge, says Govindachamy’s lawyer
The February-2011 Soumya assault and murder instance of Kerala that at the end of the day came back to national features a week ago after Supreme Court's refusal to give capital punishment to the denounced — Govindachamy — seems to have entered another round of contention among the legitimate specialists.
BA Aloor, Govindachamy's criminal legal counselor, has hit back at Justice Markandey Katju, who had condemned the SC decision as "wrong", saying Katju's remark demonstrated that he was a "clumsy and partial judge" amid his years in office.
A week ago, Katju had said that SC had "terribly failed" in the Soumya case by not holding Govindachamy liable of murder. Prior, a Thrissur quick track court had forced capital punishment to Govindachamy for this situation, which was later maintained by the Kerala High Court. Yet, the SC drove the sentence to life term for assaulting the 23-year-old deals young lady, refering to absence of proof on the indictment side to demonstrate that Govindachamy for sure had the goal to kill Soumya. This judgment had created wide open mayhem.
"The remarks that Katju made demonstrate every one of his decisions (as a Supreme Court judge) done in 2007-2011 should be seen with suspicion. His requests and judgments were finished with partiality with regards to his feedback on the SC judgment (in Soumya case). Katju, as indicated by me as a promoter, is not a capable judge. Equity is not something that ought to be accessible just to one gathering. Indeed, even the denounced likewise merits that," Aloor told Firstpost.
Katju, in his Facebook post, had said: "The Supreme Court judgment in the Soumya case isn't right… I present that the Supreme Court has blundered in law in not holding the blamed liable for murder, and its judgment should be looked into to this degree."
