The general understudies' quality of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the nation will be upgraded to one lakh by 2020, the government told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Human Resource Development Mahendra Nath Pandey said the IIT-Council has affirmed, on a basic level, the proposition for expanding the general understudies' quality in the IITs from the current 82,604 to one lakh by the year 2020.
The Minister said the IIT-Council took the choice at its 50th meeting hung on Wednesday.
While declaring that there "is no antagonistic impact" on studies in the organizations because of lack of personnel, Pandey said the IITs were taking workforce upgrading measures.

"The IITs have been taking measures to pull in quality personnel, which incorporate year-round open ads, welcome through inquiry cum-determination strategies to graduated class/researchers/workforce, notices in universal diaries, and arrangement of NRIs and PIOs to staff positions on an indistinguishable terms from relevant to standard workforce.
"Moreover, Institutes are drawing in contract, extra and going to workforce," he said.
"The legislature has likewise propelled the Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN) to empower outside workforce to show a few courses in the higher instructive foundations," said the pastor.
