Jammu and Kashmir Police seizes 14 mobiles from Baramulla jail; prisoners utilized them to stay in contact with Pakistan
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday appropriated 14 mobiles from a sub-imprison in Baramulla locale of Kashmir which was purportedly being utilized by the detainees to be in contact with their contacts in Pakistan through WhatsApp.
A case has been enrolled, and an examination is in progress with reference to how these PDAs and other illicit things were brought inside the prison.
The seizure comes two days after Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the "bunches working from Pakistan utilize Facebook, WhatsApp and other web-based social networking stages to assemble (Jammu and Kashmir) youth to incite them for stone-pelting."
Strikingly, the mobiles were seized from the detainees, who incorporated those hung on charges of militancy and stone-pelting.
"We had got contributions from Jail authorities about their doubt of some cell phones being worked from inside the correctional facility premises. In a joint hunt operation by the correctional facility and police authorities, 14 cell phones were recuperated alongside some implicating material," Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain, said.
"There are many activists there and we have recuperated a few telephones from them too. They were on WhatsApp and we can see that they were in contact with a few Pakistani numbers too... So we will investigate the entire issue," he said.
The recuperations were produced using detainees who were included in stone-pelting and aggressor exercises, the SSP stated, including the recouped telephones were being sent for measurable tests accumulate insights about the reason they were being utilized for.
He said a FIR has been enrolled against 10-12 detainees and examination is on to discover how these articles, which are not approved according to the correctional facility manual, have made section into prison premises.
