2008 Malegaon blast: Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit released from Jail
Mumbai: Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit, an accused in the 2008 Malegaon impact who was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Monday, was released from the Taloja Jail here on Wednesday.
AS soon Purohit left the jail, he was whisked away by the Army authorities in a vehicle.
The apex court allowed bail to Purohit, who put in nine years in jail. The Malegaon impact had executed seven individuals.
Subsequent to being given bail, the Lt Col on Tuesday said he needed to rejoin the Army at the earliest opportunity.
"I want to wear my uniform. It is outermost layer of my skin. I am wedded to it. I am very happy to get back into the service of the best organisation in the country if not the world, the Indian army," he told correspondents outside a sessions court here.
Six individuals were murdered in a bomb impact on September 29, 2008 at Malegaon, a collectively touchy material town in Nashik locale of north Maharashtra.
The apex cour said there were "material logical inconsistencies" in the charge sheets documented by the ATS and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which were required to be tried at the season of trial.
