Will Share a Bottle of Champagne with Virat Kohli After he Breaks My Record – Sachin Tendulkar

Former Indian batsman, Sachin Tendulkar, at a recent event was asked about the celebration when Virat Kohli breaks his record of 49 tons in ODI cricket.

The ‘God of Cricket’ was asked if he would go on to send 50 bottles of champagne whenever Virat breaks his record.

Tendulkar, modestly, denied about but stated that he would especially go to Virat and share a bottle of champagne.

In the recent season, Virat has tended to clinch a three-figure score whenever he takes the guard for India. Kohli silenced all critics by scoring runs all over the world, with his series of tons in South Africa early this year.

“Will go and share a bottle with him if he breaks my record. I won’t send him champagne bottles; I will go there and share it with him,” said Sachin Tendulkar during Boria Mazumdar’s book launch event of Eleven Gods and a Billion Indians, held in Mumbai.

Besides sharing the dressing room for many years, Virat Kohli has gone on the record to state that Sachin is the reason he started playing the game.

Therefore, his value is immense in both professional and personal life. So much so that, Kohli offered his father’s threads to the Sachin to symbolise his relationship to the great man.

“Also, I don’t have too many people who are very close to me. That is just the way life has gone on for so many years. Because naturally when someone has stuck by me in tough times, I value that person a lot,” Virat Kohli told during the Kolkata launch of the same event.

“I continue to do that. The impact he has had in my life growing up and understand the importance of it” quoted the Indian captain according to India Times.

Sachin and Kohli represented India together between 2008-13

Like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli lost his father but participated in the next match post-demise. The story of him playing a Ranji Trophy match for Delhi, shortly after losing his father, is a stuff of legends and folklore.

Sachin also did the same back in the 1999 World Cup and played the match against Kenya, joining the team after a short trip back home.

“If someone can inspire you like that and you end up becoming someone, and you feel like there is no greater pleasure than that. So that (handing his father’s threads over to Tendulkar) was just a gesture of thank you to the guy who has inspired me to do what I am doing. For me, the human connect is paramount,” Virat Kohli concluded.
