9 Signs The Blood Sugar Is Way Too High

There are many symptoms that tell us that something isn’t quite right with our bodies. In order to know what happens at that moment, we should know to recognize what a specific symptom means, as every of them underlines one or more problems.

The sugar in the blood exists in form of glucose and is of great importance for providing the energy to the body’s cells and organs, but it should be at a proper level. The responsibility of keeping blood sugar levels at a healthy range belongs to the hormone known as an insulin, which takes blood sugar and delivers it to the body’s cells.

The people who suffer from the type 1 diabetes, have a problem with their immune system as it attacks the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, while those suffering from type 2 diabetes, are not able to use it properly, even it is produced in high amount.

What is the Reason for High Blood Sugar?

When the people are stressed out or sick, their body produces hormones to combat illness and stress, which most of the times can end up triggering high blood sugar. However, there are other causes of high blood sugar, such as:

*Eating or drinking more carbohydrates than usual

*Not enough insulin or oral diabetes medication

*Illness or infection

*Less activity or exercise than usual

*Certain medications

*Injury or surgery

*Symptoms of High Blood Sugar

If the body’s blood sugar levels increase rapidly, they create health problems. This condition, over time, damages the blood vessels, which can lead to many complications, and even can end up causing a stroke or heart attack, kidney failure, and damage to the eyes or loss of vision. It can also affect nerves in the skin, leading to infections and sores.

As very high levels of blood sugar can be dangerous, being able to recognize the symptoms of it can help you catch it early and prevent it from causing permanent damage.

These are all symptoms of high blood sugar.

Numbness, Tingling or Burning

All three conditions (numbness, burning or tingling) in the legs, hands, and feet can be caused by high blood sugar, which is usually caused by diabetic neuropathy (a complication of diabetes).

Constant Hunger

You may feel constantly craving for food if you don’t have the proper amount of blood sugar to give your body energy, so your body will start looking for an alternative energy source.

Frequent Urination

In case of high sugar levels in the blood, it ends up in the kidneys and urine stimulating, even more, water and leading to the frequent urination.

Increased Thirst

Besides the frequent urination, as the people are losing liquid in their body, sugar in the kidneys and urine can cause increased thirst.

Unexpected Weight Gain or Loss

If the body’s cells don’t get enough glucose they need, the body burns fat and the muscle for energy instead. This causes sudden or unexplained weight loss. It is the same with the weight gain.

It is good to keep an eye out for any type of severe weight fluctuation.

Fatigue

If the body’s cells aren’t able to access blood sugar, they lack energy, so the person can end up feeling constantly fatigued.

Difficulty Concentrating

In case the body is unbalanced it can affect suffering of your mind, which, it is linked to high blood sugar can cause difficulty concentrating and problems with memory.

Slow Healing

As the high blood sugar causes damage to the nerves, the cuts or wounds have been healing very slowly, so, in such situation, you should check your blood sugar.

Dizziness Or Blurred Vision

Blurred vision and dizziness, especially if that happens suddenly, should never be ignored, as they both could be the underlying cause of these symptoms.
