Tata Harrier, a premium flagship model from Tata Motors is slated for official launch in India in early 2019. The premium 5 seater SUV has been teased drawing attention to its exterior and interior features. Showcased as the H5X concept at 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year, the new SUV was recently unveiled as a single production spec model rolled out off a new assembly line at the company plant in Chakan, near Pune.
Tata Harrier will boast of the company’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy. It will be based on the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture or Omega Arc platform derived from the Land Rover LS550 with technologies borrowed from Land Rover and promising outstanding on and off road capabilities.
The latest teaser shows the puddle lamps on board the Harrier. Such a feature will be seen for the first time in a Tata car. It is usually on offer with Land Rover SUVs. Speaking about the interiors of Tata Harrier, it will be seen with a dual tone dashboard with its bottom half in a faux-wood like finish. There are also interior features borrowed from the Nexon – like the steering wheel design. Other features include 8.8” infotainment system in association with Harman Kardon. Speakers are from JBL.
Exteriors of the production model is similar to that seen on the concept. It gets a single motion grille, LED DRLs, trapezoidal projector headlamps, rounded fog lamps and beefy bumper design along with blackened cladding on wheel arches. Tata Harrier sits on 5 spoke alloy wheels and gets a floating roof design, shark fin antenna and a large roof mounted spoiler.
