Hind cinema has produced lots of great comedy actors since the first Bollywood movie “Alam Ara” to till now. But it is little bit tough to list out all those Bollywood Comedians, so I have decided to short list only top 10 among them. These are those Bollywood comedy actors who have always pushes audience into their laughing zone by their comic performances. That’s why they are unforgettable comedians and so much popular among peoples. They have always a big contribution to making a film successful on box office. 10. Boman Irani

Boman Irani has not only been one of the most popular Bollywood comedians of all time, but also a great theater performer. He was also a professional photographer and a voice artist. Boman gave beautiful performance in a number of movies. He is widely famous for his comediy and villain roles in Bollywood films such as Don, Munna Bhai MBBS, 3 Idiots and most recently PK as well as Happy New Year.  He won many IIFA award nominations and in 3 Idiots opposite Aamir Khan which won him a Filmfare Award also a Star Screen Award for Best Actor in a Villainous Role. Irani has played in many comedic hits Main Hoon Na, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Dostana, Khosla Ka Ghosla, Housefull, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Waqt: The Race Against Time, No Entry, 3 Idiots, Housefull 2 and Cocktail.

Rajpal Yadav is one of the most popular and outstanding comedians of India ever. He has always been known for his trustworthy comedy style and entertaining performance. He was the screen play writer for ‘Mein, Meri Patni Aur Woh’ which earned him global appreciations. He acted in the Doordarshan’s TV serial Mungeri ke bhai Naurangilal as the leading role. This was sequel to a similar TV program on Doordarshan, Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne. He got success in negative characters, he preferred comedian roles, as in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, along with he went on to become a plentiful comedian in Hindi movies. He is a wonderful comedy actors of Bollywood. He acted as comic role in Chup Chup Ke, Garam Masala, Hungama, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Phir Hera Pheri and Dhol. He has also been the leading role in more serious movies like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Rama Rama Kya Hai Drama, Ladies Tailor, Hello! 8. Paresh Rawal

Paresh Rawal is a signature comedian of Bollywood industry. He won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award for ‘Hera Pheri’. He has worked both as comedian and villain in Bollywood movies. He has been dominating the industry for many years. In 1994, he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in the movies Sir and Woh Chokri. 7. Jagdeep

Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffry, famous as Jagdeep, has been another fantastic and great comedian of Indian film industry. He is a stage artist as well. His role of Soorma Bhopali in ‘Sholay (1975)’ is unforgettable. He is especially famous for his comic roles. He acted in more than 300 films. He is also famous for his appearances in many horror films, mainly in film of “Ramsay Brothers”. He appeared in famous hits like Tehkhana, Veerana and Purana Mandir.

6. Rajendranath

Rajendranath played a side actor role in Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor films. He has always been prominent for his unique comic roles and excellent performance. Kader Khan had excelled in the fields of comedy, scriptwriting, dialogue writing, and direction. He is a multi-star of India. He has acted in more than 300 films in Hindi and Urdu as well as has written dialogues for more than 250 Indian films, from the 1970s up to the turn of the 21st century.  He is most popularly known for working with actor Jeetendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Feroz Khan, Govinda and in films by David Dhawan. Kadar Khan has worked also with other comedian actors like Shakti Kapoor and Johnny Lever. He is one of the best comedy actors of Bollywood. He has played a great variety of parts in films like a supporting character of a father, uncle, brother, main villain as well as the side villain, guest actor also comedian. He has won Filmfare Best Comedian Award for Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri in 1991. He has also won Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Supporting character for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.

4. Johnny Lever

John Prakasa Rao Janumala, normally famous as Johnny Lever, has been seen in almost 350 movies. He bagged various awards including 2 Filmfare Awards, one for ‘Deewana Mastana’ in 1998 and the other for ‘Dulhe Raja’ in 1999. He started his career in 1984, as well as has acted in more than 300 Bollywood films. He is a great television actor and movie celebrity. He is one of India’s much respected actors’ also has a massive fan following that includes many big celebrities. His first major achievement came with Bollywood movie Baazigar, and after that he was seen in almost every film as a supporting actor or comedian. His much-admired performance was the role of “Babulal” in the film, Baazigar, directed by Abbas-Mustan. 3. Johnny Walker

Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi, popular as Johnny Walker, was a bus conductor before becoming a comedian. He was introduced by Guru Dutt in Bollywood. His role ‘Johnny Walker’ made him world famous in no time. He acted in around 300 movies. Walker played best performance in B. R. Chopra’s films Naya Daur (1957), Chetan Anand’s films Taxi Driver (1954) and Bimal Roy’s films Madhumati (1958).  Walker’s  final film came after an absence of 14 years when he took a role in a remake of Mrs. Doubtfire titled Chachi 420 (1997). He won Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his character in Madhumati and also won Filmfare Best Comedian Award for his character in Shikar.

2. Asrani

If you have been a fan of ‘Sholay’, you must be recognizable with the hilarious jailor in it. The role was played by Asrani. His full name is Govardhan Asrani. He is a most famous comedian of Bollywood industry. He has won the Filmfare award for Best Comedian for his best performances in Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar in 1974 also for Balika Badhu in 1977. He holds record for emerging as a role actor/comedian in most number of Hindi movies in a decade – 101 in 70’s and 107 in 80’s. In 80’s his unforgettable acts were in Ek Hi Bhool, Hamari Bahu Alka, Yeh Kaisa Insaf, Kaamchor, Main Intequam Loonga, Love 86,  Agar Tum Na Hote, Asha Jyoti, Maqsad, Biwi Ho To Aisi. His most outstanding and memorable performances as comedian from 90’s are in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Gharwali Baharwali, Gardish, Taqdeerwala, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Hero Hindustani.

Mehmood Ali well acknowledged as by Mehmood. He was multi-talented personality like he was a great actor, singer, director as well as producer famous for his comic roles in Bollywood films. He was king of comedy in 1960.  In his career of more than four decades, he played over 300 Hindi films. He was born on 29th September 1932 in Mumbai, India. He has been won four times Filmfare Best Comedian Award for Pyar Kiye Jaa Atma (1967 ), Waris (1970 ), Paras (1972), Vardaan(1975).Besides he was nominated approximately 15 times for the Filmfare Best Comedian Award. He has established a space for the comedy actors in bollywood that’s why he was known as by “Father of Comedy” of their time.
