Suniel Shetty: Today when I see Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, I feel so proud. I wish I was like them

In a recent interview, Suniel Shetty opened up about his career in films and further talked about his friends and contemporaries Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn. Scroll down to know what he said.

All those who grew up in the 90s are very well aware of the kind of stardom Suniel Shetty possessed back in the day. He was one of the most sought after actions stars and had some big hits under his belt. It all started to fade away post-2000. As a lead star, his films started failing at the box office and soon he was only seen in multistarrers. Off late, that has also changed. In the last couple of years, Suniel Shetty was only seen in A Gentleman, where he had a special appearance as the main antagonist.

However, in these last few years, he has women swooning over him when his transformation broke the internet and all everyone was seen talking about was his dashing personality and look. Recently, in an interview with Indiatimes, Suniel Shetty opened up about his career and reveals the reason he thinks the box office pull slowly slipped away from him. Talking about he never let the success get into his head, Suniel said,

Never ever, that’s why I made the mistakes I made, I was very emotional, I signed the films with directors saying, ‘sir assistant hoon, kar lo,’ I did it, I never planned my career, I never planned the highs and low. If I fell, I fell, if today, my Friday is not good, it's because of the mistakes I made, but somewhere down the line, I feel Ahan and Athiya will be blessed with everything I did, Athiya was been launched by Salman and now Ahan with Sajid and Milan Luthria, what more can anyone ask for?

Further talking about the mistakes he committed in his career and how his contemporaries and friends Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar succeeded, he said,

I never enter a room thinking that my last Friday release was fabulous or bad. I am very strong mentally, I believe in myself. Today when I see Akshay and Ajay, I feel so proud, I salute them, they are very close friends of mine. Even today, they inspire me by what they have achieved, I am not jealous, I have made mistakes that is why where I am, I am, so I appreciate Akshay and Ajay, and I wish I was like them, but I will and for that I need to work hard.

Suniel Shetty is currently busy shooting for Priyadarshan's big-budget Marakkar - The Lion of the Arabian Sea. The movie stars Mohanlal in the lead and will have Suniel play a 16th-century warrior. Apart from Marakkar - The Lion of the Arabian Sea, there is a lot of buzz about Hera Pheri 3, which will mark the reunion of Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal.

Suniel Shetty is also playing an important role in Kichcha Sudeep's Kannada film Pailwan.
