Salman Khan's Being Human Foundation Blacklisted By BMC For Not Setting Up Concessional Dialysis Units
Salman Khan has hit headlines yet again thanks to his NGO Being Human. According to reports, the Tiger Zinda Hai actor’s NGO Being Human Foundation has been blacklisted by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for not setting up a concessional dialysis unit in Bandra. The NGO was allotted the project more than a year ago. Apart from blacklisting the foundation, BMC has also issued a showcase notice and forfeited the NGO s deposit.
The civic body is now floating new tenders for the project. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, BMC had decided to start 12 dialysis centres, housing 199 dialysis machines which could perform up to 10,000 procedures a month, in the city in December 2016. A senior officer from BMC was quoted saying, “Being Human, which was shortlisted for running the dialysis centre at Bandra (West), had paid the bank guarantee and was granted all the necessary permissions to go ahead with the project. But with the project not taking off, we have issued them a show-cause notice warning that they would be blacklisted.”
However, a spokesperson for Being Human clarified that they had not signed a formal contract with BMC. An email statement from Being Human Foundation stated, “The Being Human Foundation has certain mandatory requirements which need to be included in contracts. There were discussions around those which ultimately did not materialise. There was no formal contract/MoU signed at all, Loretta Lewis, a representative from the foundation.”
