Mumbai Metro: Akshay Kumar takes a train ride, nobody recognises him

Akshay Kumar quietly travelled in a Mumbai Metro train from Ghatkopar to Versova
A number of daily commuters were standing near him but he easily escaped their attention

MUMBAI : A day after megastar Amitabh Bachchan openly praised Mumbai Metro train services for cutting down traffic and pollution, Akshay Kumar took a ride on the train but without commuters recognising the Bollywood actor.

During his train journey, the actor shot a video from his phone and tweeted out his experience of travelling in a Mumbai Metro train from Ghatkopar to Versova. In his own words, he travelled "like a boss" by beating peak hours traffic. The journey that would have taken him about two hours in his car took only 20 minutes in the Metro train.

"I am in the Metro. I came here quietly. I was shooting in Ghatkopar and from there I wanted to go to Versova which would have taken two hours, five minutes according to the map," Akshay Kumar said. Raj Mehta, the director of the upcoming film "Good Newwz", suggested him to take the Metro.

"I said there will be a lot of crowd. He said no let's go by taking some risk. So I took 1-2 security guards and I am sitting here quietly in a corner. Some people might know but others don't know," Kumar said.

In the video, he even showed a view of people standing close to him. None of them seemed to be realising that they were close to a Bollywood superstar.

"I am reaching my destination in 20 minutes. It would have taken 20 minutes," Akshay Kumar said adding that Mumbai Metro is the only transportation that runs on an elevated path and doesn't get affected even if there is water-logging underneath it.

Mumbai Metro authorities thanked Akshay by tweeting: "We are really ecstatic that you could rely on #MumbaiMetro to beat the traffic & travel #LikeABoss. Thank you. #HaveAGreatEvening."

Akshay is the second actor to have come out and praise the Mumbai Metro after Amitabh Bachchan, at a time when most Bollywood stars have been protesting the cutting of trees in Aarey Colony to build a Metro car shed.

"Friend of mine had a medical emergency, decided to take METRO instead of his car. Came back very impressed said was faster, convenient and most efficient. Solution for Pollution. Grow more trees, I did in my garden. Have you?"," Big B had tweeted on Tuesday.
