JP Dutta takes on the Chinese in Paltan teaser. Watch video
JP Dutta, whose last directorial Umrao Jana released in 2006, is all set to return to the silver screen with Paltan.
After Border, Refugee and LOC Kargil, he has once again found his inspiration at the border. Paltan is based on the India-China tussle at Nathu La in 1967. The teaser of the film was released on Monday.
Harshvardhan Rane, one of the many leads, tweeted the teaser and wrote alongside, “Brother on the left, brother on the right, as the battle drums beat, we pledge to rise! #WethePaltan are getting ready to march into battle!”
The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Esha Gupta and Jackie Shroff in important roles.
The 24-second video shows a column of soldiers marching among the snow-clad mountains with heavy military band playing in the background. A soldier is also seen getting ready for his duty along the borders.
The film has been shot at locations like Chandigarh and the interiors of Uttarakhand.
Paltan will chronicle the story of India-China war in Nathu La and Cho La where Indian troops forced the Chinese army to retract and go back. The clashes took place in between September 11-15, 1967.
Paltan also marks the return of Anu Malik-JP Dutta duo who have produced iconic music in films like Border and Refugee.
However, Paltan isn’t the only period film based on a war. Akshay Kumar’s Kesari, Arjun Kapoor’s Panipat and a couple of films on the battle of Saragarhi are also in the making.
Paltan will hit the screens on September 7, 2018.
