A Study Shows That Non-Drinkers Are More Likely to Die Young!

Recent research has shown that it is better to drink some alcohol than none at all in order to live a long life. This means that not drinking alcohol could lead to a shorter lifespan for humans.
Even though this seems shocking, over a 20-year time period—and even after factoring in variables like the amount of physical activity and socioeconomic status—people aged between 55 and 65 consuming alcohol were found to live longer compared to non-drinkers within the same age range. That’s not all, even though people who consumed alcohol in moderate amounts faired best of all, even people who consumed it on a regular basis ended up living longer compared to people that didn’t drink at all. You shouldn’t take these results lightly because the lead researcher of the study was the psychologist Charles Holahan of the University of Texas at Austin.
In addition, 1,824 participants were observed in total: 69 percent of non-drinkers died before their time, 41 percent of moderate drinkers died early, whereas 60 percent of heavy drinkers died prematurely. But, there are certain caveats attached to these results, because participants that drank were more likely to experience accidents, alcohol dependency, cancer, cirrhosis, and poor judgement in general. Perhaps it is better to live longer with health problems than live fewer years or cease to live at all.
So, why may drinkers end up living longer compared to those who don’t drink at all? It may be that those who drink are more social compared to those who don’t drink at all, and socializing is crucial to both achieving and keeping good physical and mental health. Furthermore, those who don’t drink are more likely to suffer from depression compared to drinkers. Plus, people who drink in moderate amounts are more likely to have better blood circulation and heart health than non-drinkers.
In fact, you should strive to drink responsibly. Also, keep in mind that it is better to drink alcohol than no alcohol at all.
