After Arbaaz Khan Confesses To IPL Betting, Two More Bollywood Producers Have Been Named In The Case
In a shocking incident, Arbaaz Khan yesterday confessed that he has been betting on cricket matches for past six years. During his interrogation, it was revealed, that last year the actor-filmmaker had placed a bet of Rs. 2.83 crores and had lost it. It all came to limelight after bookie Sonu Jalan alias Sonu Malad was arrested and interrogated.
Sonu Jalan’s arrest has not only busted Arbaaz Khan’s name in IPL betting racket, but two other Bollywood producers have also been named. Parag Sanghvi and Murad Khaitan. Parag Sanghvi who is known for producing films like Partner and The Attacks of 26/11, has been summoned by the police.
“Two Bollywood producers, Parag Sanghvi and Murad Khaitan’s names have cropped up. We will call them for questioning. Shaghvi was Jalan’s partner. A top bookie who is a Mumbai-based builder’s son, Dilip Ludhani, has also been named. We are probing further. We will call Khan again if needed,” Pradeep Sharma, senior inspector, Thane AEC said.
The AEC has also seized a land-holding machine – a device which is used to place bets on the ongoing matches – from Jalan’s house. “The machine has several phones connected to a charger. It also has earphones and volumes buttons to talk to different bookies at the same time,” Inspector Rajkumar Kothmire, Thane AEC, said. Along with that, police has also seized a diary which has the phone numbers of about 100 punters and 50 masters (who collect money).
Arbaaz Khan and Sonu Jalan were interrogated together. It was revealed that Arbaaz had lost Rs. 2.83 crore last year. “When Jalan asked for the money, Khan said he can’t pay him. Jalan also threatened him after that,” deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Thane crime, Abhishek Trimukhe, who questioned them, said.
It is said that Arbaaz is addicted to betting and that is one of the reasons that led to his divorce with wife Malaika Arora.
