CM Yogi Sacks Two Officers for Leaking Details of Meeting With Mulayam Singh Yadav Over Bungalows Issue

Mulayam Singh Yadav met CM Yogi on Wednesday over the recent order of the Supreme Court asking former CMs to vacate their official residences. As per the sources, Yadav suggested to the CM that he and his son Akhilesh’s house should be allotted in the name of leaders of opposition in Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, Ram Govind Chaudhary and Ahmad Hasan respectively.

Lucknow: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sacked of two officials for allegedly leaking the details of the meeting of his meeting with Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The officials who were axed are CM’s Personal Secretary Pitambara Yadav and Personal Assistant to Chief Secretary to CM, Shishupal.

Mulayam Singh Yadav met CM Yogi on Wednesday over the recent order of the Supreme Court asking former CMs to vacate their official residences. Sources said the meeting at Yogi’s residence lasted for 30 minute. As per the sources, Yadav suggested to the CM that he and his son Akhilesh’s house should be allotted in the name of leaders of opposition in Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, Ram Govind Chaudhary and Ahmad Hasan respectively.

However, on Thursday evening the UP government issued notices to six former CMs, including those from the BJP, to vacate official bungalows in compliance with the Supreme Court orders. The notices sent by the Estate Department have asked the former CMs to vacate the bungalows in 15 days, a senior official said.

Those served notices include Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Kalyan Singh, Mayawati, Rajnath Singh and Akhilesh Yadav. They currently occupy prime government properties in the high-security VVIP zone in Lucknow.

The SC in its recent order had said that “once a Chief Minister demits office, he is also a common citizen” and quashed the law to entitle former CMs to retain bungalows during their lifetime. A bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi ruled that there cannot be any distinction between a common man and a former CM and thus, granting such privilege violated equality under Article 14.
