Hyundai Santro teaser video views cross 12 million – Maruti WagonR rival launch today

The new Hyundai Santro will be positioned between the Eon and Grand i10 in company's lineup.

The new Hyundai Santro is set to launch today in India on 23rd October 2018, about 20 years after the first ever Santro launch. It has been one of the most awaited car launches of India this year. The video teaser which Hyundai released a week ago, has already garnered 12 million views only on YouTube. This shows how popular the car is in this country.

With the times changing, Santro too has changed drastically. The new Santro is bigger, more powerful, more attractive, and more feature rich than before. 2018 Hyundai Santro comes in positioned between the Eon and the Grand i10 in the company lineup and will be presented in nine trims, seven exterior color options and five variants of Dlite, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta.

The new Hyundai Santro will follow the same tallboy stance as was seen in its earlier counterpart. It will be offered in the compact hatchback segment and will boast of a Signature Cascading Grille design which chrome surrounds, a black color scheme on exterior mirrors while front and rear bumpers and lower sides get black cladding. The rear will see revised tail lamp designs and spoiler while the Santro will now sit on new alloy wheels.

Hyundai is offering several segment first features in the new Santro. These will include a 7” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse parking camera with sensors, rear AC vents and dual front airbags. However, these features will be limited to only the top of the line Asta variant.

Engine specifications on the new Hyundai Santro will include a 1.1 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine offering 69 bhp power and 99 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The factory fitted CNG variant will offer 58 bhp power mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox and will be limited to the Magna and Sportz variants only. In terms of fuel efficiency, the petrol engine will offer 20.3 kmpl while the CNG variant will be capable of 30.5 km/kg. AMT option is also on offer.

It is this list of segment first features, notable exterior updates and fuel efficient engine lineup that will allow the Hyundai Santro to have a lead over competition such as the Maruti Alto K10, WagonR, Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and Datsun GO. Prices will be revealed in a few hours. Expect them to start from Rs 3.7 lakhs.
