The adapter snaps onto the Essential Phone's magnetic accessory port on the back, and it brings a high-res headphone jack to the party. It includes "award-winning MQA technology, revealing the full sound of the original master recording", Essential says.
Like the Essential Phone's frame, the adapter is made from machined titanium. The accessory sports a high-resolution ESS Sabre DAC and an audiophile-grade amp that can power high impedance headphones with low distortion.
All of this will cost you dearly. The Audio Adapter HD is priced at an eye watering $149 - this is definitely not your average $9-$20 dongle, that's for sure.
To take some of the sting off, Essential is giving you three free months of Tidal, as long as you subscribe to the HiFi music service.
